Just as this father teaches his son the traditions and dances so did his father and his father before him. Native Americans are no longer thought of as the vanishing Americans. Soon there will be as many Native Americans in the United States as there was when Columbus landed. It is the culture that is vanishing. This is why it is so important to come to an appreciation of Native American art and dance and to do what we can to preserve them. The Native American’s dance may be the most important of all his artistic contributions, for it combined all of what he was and what he could become.
